Miami-Dade resident Marilyn Aguilera made a series of catastrophic decisions that led to a disastrous chain of events.
The 52-year-old mother chose to drive while grossly intoxicated, with a blood alcohol level three times the legal limit and ended up crashing into a baseball field during a little-league championship game. Her car struck the dad who was coaching his five-year-old son’s team, 44-year-old high school principal Javier Perez. He suffered grave injuries, losing both of his legs in the accident and having to endure 20 surgeries and more than 100 transfusions.
