The Justice Department of the Biden administration secured a search warrant for Rudy Giuliani and used it to search his apartment and office in New York City, collecting documents and electronic devices. Giuliani has served as a private counsel for President Trump in his election proceedings, and he was instrumental in bringing Hunter Biden’s laptop into the spotlight ahead of the 2020 presidential election. While investigating charges of corruption involving Joe and Hunter Biden and Ukraine, Giuliani is currently being investigated for his alleged lobbying activities in Ukraine in 2019.
Giuliani is a legendary former mayor of New York City who saved the city from high crime and fiscal mismanagement in the 1990s and kept the city calm during the September 11, 2001 terror attack with good leadership. Prior to that, he was the high-profile United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, where he prosecuted the mafia’s five families.

According to three people familiar with the situation, federal agents in Manhattan served a search warrant at the Upper East Side apartment of Rudolph W. Giuliani, the former New York City mayor who later became President Donald J. Trump’s personal lawyer, on Wednesday, stepping up a criminal investigation into Mr. Giuliani’s dealings in Ukraine.
Investigators had confiscated Mr. Giuliani’s electronic devices, according to one of the sources.
The investigation into whether Mr. Giuliani secretly pressured the Trump administration in 2019 on behalf of Ukrainian officials and oligarchs, who were also assisting Mr. Giuliani in his quest for dirt on Mr. Trump’s political rivals, including President Biden, who was then a leading contender for the Democratic presidential nomination, has been primarily centered by federal authorities.
The Manhattan US Attorney’s office and the FBI have been trying for months to get a search warrant for Mr. Giuliani’s mobile.
According to The New York Times, senior political appointees in the Justice Department regularly tried to block such a warrant under Mr. Trump’s watch, delaying the probe as it gained traction last year. The Justice Department lifted its opposition to the search after Merrick B. Garland was named as President Biden’s attorney general.
