The Democratic Party spectacularly failed to stop Justice Kavanaugh’s confirmation to the Supreme Court.
Their next and possibly last shot to walk away from the table with anything more than what could be comparable to gas money for their ride out of town is to gain a majority in the Senate with the mid term elections next month. Only then will they have a shot at removing Justice Kavanaugh from his seat on the highest court in the nation.
That, as an aside, would be a lot harder than they think it would be.
As it stands to the newly minted Justice’s original accuser, it would seem that her days in the headlines are over. If this were a television program, her character is about to be written to accept another job in a city halfway across the country. Christine Ford has apparently decided to throw in the towel on this particular fight. According to her attorneys in a recent statement to CNN she has stated that she absolutely does not want Kavanaugh impeached in any way if the Democrats take control of Congress.
One of Ford’s lawyers, Debra Katz, explained to CNN that her client did what she intended to do in coming forward with the accusations against Kavanaugh.
“Professor Ford has not asked for (Democrats to continue investigating Kavanaugh.) What she did was to come forward and testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee and agree to cooperate with any investigation by the FBI and that’s what she sought to do here,” Katz stated.
Ford’s 36-year-old accusations against Kavanaugh fell apart with a serious lack of evidence and witnesses who could not corroborate the accuser’s story. With a 50-48 final vote, Kavanaugh was confirmed to the Supreme Court this past Saturday.
Conservative Tribune writes, “Some prominent Democrats, such as House Judiciary Committee ranking member Jerry Nadler, have made no secret of Democrats’ desires to further investigate Kavanaugh should Democrats have a successful midterm.”
“If he is on the Supreme Court, and the Senate hasn’t investigated, then the House will have to,” Nadler said to ABC News‘ George Stephanopoulos. He continued, “We would have to investigate any credible allegations of perjury and other things that haven’t been properly looked into before.”
Nadler’s comments go against what Ford seemed to be gunning for. Senate Democrats ignored Ford’s request to remain anonymous, so why would they listen to her now?
“She does not want (Kavanaugh) to be impeached?” CNN’s Dana Bash questioned Ford’s attorneys.
“No,” Katz shortly answered.
“I don’t think she has any regrets. I think she feels like she did the right thing,” Banks said. “And this was what she wanted to do, which was provide this information to the committee so they could make the best decision possible. And I think she still feels that was the right thing to do, so I don’t think she has any regrets.”

Katz seemed to indicate that she wasn’t happy with the final results of the whole thing, but she still seemed to back Democratic Senator Dianne Feinstein and her handling of the letter written by Ford.
“What I can speak to is when victims of sexual assault and violence go to their Congress people — when they go to their senators and they ask for their information to be confidential, I think that that’s a request that needs to be respected,” Katz said.
She continued, “Victims get to control when and how and where their allegations get made public. Now, if we want to look at all the things that went wrong in this process, there are many. There are many issues that need to be addressed. But I think Sen. Feinstein respected the process of her constituents, and I think that was the right thing to do.”
