In the early hours of Wednesday morning, Republican Senators voted to squash Democrat time wasting by a 53-47 margin, cleanly split along party lines. There isn’t any sense, they decided, to drag out a parade of witnesses and start digging through boxes of documents, until Democrats can say which actual “crimes” were allegedly committed.

It’s well accepted that in order to be a “crime” it must be “declared as such by the relevant and applicable law. Democrats are only insisting on witnesses and exhibits because they can’t name a single clear violation of an “applicable law.” All they do is sidestep the issue with hearsay and speculation.

Connecticut Senator Chris Murphy told reporters, “This may be our only chance, tonight, to make this a fair trial.” To Democrats, a “fair” trial means one like they had in the House. A kangaroo court where the outcome was a foregone conclusion.

Lead Defense lawyer Pat Cipollone shredded the Democrats over that issue in the first round of proceedings. He came out strong, attacking “the foundation of the charges,” and spelling out exactly why they didn’t meet the constitutional standard. “The only conclusion will be that the president has done absolutely nothing wrong. There is absolutely no case.”

Cipollone didn’t pull any punches, calling the whole Ukraine investigation “an illegal attempt” to overthrow the duly-elected President. Not only that, they’re trying to throw a monkey wrench into this year’s contest. “They’re not here to steal one election, they’re here to steal two elections,” he declared.

Jerry Nadler got so upset that he forgot which chamber he was in. He threw a temper tantrum over the issue of whether John Bolton should testify. When he started throwing his weight around, like he’s used to doing in the house, it earned him a stern reprimand from Chief Justice John Roberts. “Those addressing the Senate should remember where they are.” Nadler accused Republican senators of “voting for a coverup.”

“So far, I’m sad to say, I see a lot of senators voting for a coverup. Voting to deny witnesses and obviously a treacherous vote. A vote against an honest consideration of the evidence against the President. A vote against an honest trial. A vote against the United States.”

White House counsel Pat Cipollone got a slap on the wrist too, for his choice of language in response. “The only one who should be embarrassed, Mr. Nadler, is you. For the way you addressed this body. This is the United States Senate. You’re not in charge here.”

Roberts told them both to calm down. “I think it is appropriate for me to admonish both the House managers and the President’s counsel in equal terms to remember that they are addressing the world’s greatest deliberative body,” Roberts reminded.

He didn’t think he was being overly restrictive. As Roberts explained, “In the 1905 Swain trial, a senator objected when one of the managers used the word ‘pettifogging’ and the presiding officer said the word ought not to have been used. I don’t think we need to aspire to that high of a standard, but I do think those addressing the Senate should remember where they are.”

Senator Mitch McConnell agreed to ease up on the schedule a little so now there will be 48 hours of opening arguments, 24 hours each side, spread out over 6 days. Trial is expected to resume at 1:00 p.m. Eastern time.

Anyone with a real job that has performed like Nadler, he or she would have already been fired.

I will be ecstatic when this witch hunt is finally put to rest and the circus leaves town! And to think these people were elected or appointed to serve we, the people. How sad, pathetic and denigrating this is. Impeachable actions? What a farce! (OMO) – one man’s opinion.

Between Schiff’s lies and Nadler’s threats and babbling they have lost the entire bout, not just round one. Roberts felt he had to chastise both sides even though the republican lawyer did nothing wrong. Roberts is obviously pro left.

This is the problem the democrats have with inforcing our laws . They try to interpret our laws to their way of thinking . Like a cop did to me . I stopped at a stop sign . Looked left , then right then left again and as I started to pull out I looked right again . Now this was at 5am … no other cars on the road but mine . As I pulled out a cop comes up behind me and put on his light . So I pulled over , was told I ran the stop sign ? So I said no I stopped and looked both ways twice befor going . He then said I didn’t stop long enough. But I did … there’s no time limit to stay at a stop sign . He tryed to interpret the law and he lost in a court of law . This is the same thing the dems are doing … if we let them win they will interpret our laws as they please . Do the right thing and vote for the ones telling the truth . Or you will be the to suffer from laws intrepid

Why is there even any talk about witnesses? Schiff said he had “overwhelming evidence” of impeachable offenses when he came to the Senate. So where is this evidence?

TIME’S UP! FAR TOO MANY OF YOU POLITICIANS/BUREAUCRATS/ACADEMICIANS/MEDIA HAVE CROSSED THE LINE! WE OUT HERE IN THE HEARTLAND KNOW THIS IMPEACHMENT SHOW IS NOTHING BUT ANOTHER ATTEMPT TO COVERUP YOUR OWN CORRUPTION. D.J. TRUMP IS OUR PRESIDENT AND YOU ARE NOT GOING TO REPLACE HIM. SOLDIER/COP/GRUNT, RETIRED

Rape, Pillage,Plunder; America, You’ve Been Had!

How much more before you stand up to those who have made the following lessons learned facts?

    1. The American people are the most effectively lied to people in modern times thanks primarily to the American political class, the American bureaucracy, the American media, and American academia.

    2. Arrogance coupled with ignorance equals stupidity.

    3. The greatest threats to the American people are the corrupt and/or incompetent politicians/bureaucrats/academicians found at every level of government/academia, and the majority of the American so-called media.

    4. Most of the politicians/bureaucrats/academicians I have encountered during my years as a soldier/cop I most kindly refer to as; self-serving, witless, cowards.

    5. The American Profession of Arms and our brothers/sisters in blue have failed to protect the American people from all of their enemies, both foreign and most especially domestic.

    Soldier/Cop/Grunt, Retired

PS These lessons learned were first presented to a gathering of Americans in 1989. The only positive change to the American political environment since then has been the arrival of one, Donald J. Trump! Since D.J. Trump took office I have added one more lessons learned thanks to the overall behavior of the parties highlighted in lessons learned 1-3 above. Seems approximately 25% of the American population has declared war on the rest of the nation!

    6. After carefully watching the whole of the political class since Donald J. Trump walked down that escalator in Trump Tower to date, I can say without reservation that most of the group will sell their souls and our bodies just to remain in power. (Added 2019)

    7. Want to see what the United States of America will look like if the left takes control of the government? Take your pick, New York City, Baltimore, Chicago, San Francisco, Los Angeles, or the complete package; California. (Added 2019)
