Can you believe it? Another Democrat has been caught red-handed, tangled in corruption. It’s like déjà vu.
A former Democratic state Representative from Hawaii has been found guilty of taking bribes to influence contracts related to raw sewage treatments. Ty Cullen, the former state Rep., has been sentenced to two years behind bars in this sordid case.
It’s a dirty party, indeed. As Hawaii expanded, it couldn’t keep up with its sewage needs. So, the islands resorted to using cesspools to contain the waste. According to reports, Cullen had his hands out, accepting bribes from a businessman who wanted to get his hands on the contracts for removing these cesspools.
During Cullen’s sentencing, Judge Susan Oki Mollway gave him the minimum sentence, acknowledging his cooperation in the case. But she didn’t mince words, scolding him before delivering her judgment.
She said, “This was a grievous breach of public trust on your part. It appears to have been motivated by greed, and it stretched out over a number of years. I am very concerned that this was not a momentary lapse of judgment.”
Cullen pocketed $30,000 in cold hard cash and another $22,000 in casino chips from Milton Choy during a recent conference to swing his vote on the issue. In addition to spending two years in prison, Cullen was hit with a $25,000 fine.
After his sentencing, Cullen apologized, saying, “I want to say I’m sorry to my family who stayed by me, to my friends, to my constituents, my community, and the people of Hawaii. I will continue to work to make my wrongs right. And ensure that this never happens again.”
This sordid tale is yet another example of the corruption festering within the Democratic Party. Time after time, we see Democrats engaging in sketchy activities, driven by greed and a total disregard for the public’s trust. It’s high time for a change – a shift towards politicians who embody integrity, honesty, and transparency. Americans deserve better than a party that continuously betrays their trust for personal gain.
