A Criminal Tried Carving 666 Into His Body, But Then His Hand Slipped And…

A Nebraska serial killer who faces the death penalty for killing four people during an August 2013 crime spree is attempting to bolster his insanity defense by carving “666” into his forehead, according to the Omaha World-Herald.

28-year-old Nikko Jenkins told Douglas County District Judge Peter Bataillon during a telephone hearing that he “self-mutilated” by trying to carve the symbolic number known as the “number of the beast” in the Biblical book of Revelation into his forehead.

Jenkins did this “because he is not receiving treatment for his purported mental illness.”

However, there is just one problem, he did it in a mirror, so instead of 666, it looks more like upside-down nines.

Jenkins claims that he hears voices and acts “under the voice commands of a serpent god.” Prosecutors claim he’s making up the mental condition to delay proceedings and possibly get out of a death penalty sentence.

Jenkins’ legal troubles started when he was just seven when he was caught bringing a loaded gun to school. By 13, he’d committed multiple assaults and, at 15, he committed two armed carjackings and received a sentence of 21 years (of which he only ended up serving about 10 and a half).

And his psychological evaluations suggest that his mental problems stem all the way back to that loaded gun incident at age seven when he claimed that the voice of Apophis told him to carry the weapon with him to school.

Psychiatrists who have evaluated Jenkins can’t agree on his diagnosis: About half say he could be schizophrenic, while the other half say he’s faking so that he can be declared mentally unfit for criminal proceedings.

In 2014, Jenkins pled guilty to killing Juan Uribe-Pena, Jorge Cajiga-Ruiz, Curtis Bradford, and Andrea Kruger during a 10-day killing spree that started just weeks after he was released from prison.

Judge Bataillon then rattled off the sentences, in order, with a bold, “Death,” resounding in the courtroom a total of four times.

In addition to his four death sentences, Nikko Jenkins was also sentenced to 450 years in prison on weapons charges connected with the murders, which he used a 12-gauge shotgun to commit. The convicted serial killer now sits in the Tecumseh State Correctional Institution in Tecumseh, Nebraska, awaiting his fate, and there’s no cutting his way out of this one.
