A prominent conservative news network abruptly terminates its top-rated host, fueling speculation about the true motives behind the decision.
Renowned Fox News host Tucker Carlson found himself out of a job, much to his surprise, when he received a phone call from CEO Suzanne Scott on Monday, informing him of his termination. This unexpected turn of events happened while Carlson had been in talks for a contract extension, which would have secured his position at the network until 2029, as reported by the Independent.
Bill O’Reilly, a former top Fox News host, shared his thoughts on the situation during an interview with Chris Cuomo of News Nation, claiming that the reason behind Carlson’s dismissal might be the various lawsuits the network is currently facing in connection with the 2020 election.
Bill O’Reilly tells Chris Cuomo why he thinks Tucker Carlson was fired:
“That’s the nature of television news — the most wicked industry in the United States of America.”pic.twitter.com/6BYflhoDUa

Having recently settled a lawsuit with Dominion for a staggering $787 million, Fox News is also grappling with an ongoing lawsuit filed by former booker Abby Grossberg. O’Reilly asserted that the sudden announcement of Carlson’s firing had caught the host off guard, adding that the television news industry is the most “wicked” in the United States.
He explained that Carlson’s ratings had been weak for the first three years, losing around a million viewers from O’Reilly’s audience, but took a sharp turn to the right in 2020, eventually gaining popularity among a hard-right audience.

Reports have emerged that Lachlan Murdoch, CEO of Fox Corporation, and Suzanne Scott, CEO of Fox News Media, made the decision to fire Carlson on Friday night, with Scott delivering the news to Carlson on Monday morning. The New York Times suggested that Carlson’s influence outside Fox News could not protect him from the internal issues he faced within the network, which had been troubling both Lachlan and Rupert Murdoch, co-founder and chairman of Fox Corporation.
In the same report, the New York Times highlighted Carlson’s role in promoting a revisionist account of the attack on the United States Capitol on January 6, 2021. This segment, along with other controversial actions, had caused friction within the network.
Furthermore, his documentary “Patriot Purge” fueled conspiracy theories about the January 6 attack, which reportedly caught Lachlan Murdoch off guard and prompted the resignation of two conservative Fox News contributors, Jonah Goldberg, and Stephen Hayes.
Additionally, Carlson’s portrayal of the Capitol rioters as “mostly peaceful” in a broadcast featuring edited footage of the attack earned him criticism from Senator Mitch McConnell, a friend of Rupert Murdoch, who accused Carlson of drawing “offensive and misleading conclusions.”
As the dust settles on this surprising development, Fox News is once again making headlines with the announcement that host Dan Bongino has also parted ways with the network, leaving fans of both Bongino and the top-rated cable giant in shock.
