One of the things that Democrats must have thought when they were pointing the finger at Republicans for the past several months over everything that they could think of is that they never imagined it would make its way around to them.
Looking at the facts as they continue to roll in, it is obvious that they don’t understand that what goes around comes around. Andrew Cuomo is as crooked as the day is long, and they don’t understand that while he was acting like a savior he ended up being a demon.
And by their logic, if Republicans need to be called to task for the things that they say happened, then they need to do the same for their own people.
Assemblyman Michael Montesano plans to start the impeachment wheels grinding against New York Governor Andrew Cuomo. The major Democrat leader’s top aide admitted their office “covered up data on COVID-19 nursing home deaths” to shake off a Justice Department probe.
Montesano is calling for the governor’s resignation and also exploring the option of “filing articles of impeachment against the governor if he doesn’t resign.”
The conservative has “been calling for subpoenas and a hearing for quite a while.” As a member of the Oversight and Investigations Committee, he notes that the news of the last several days is “extremely troubling.”
There are valid grounds for impeachment because Governor Cuomo is facing a criminal investigation. His secretary, Melissa DeRosa, told ranking New York Democrats on Thursday that “Cuomo’s administration feared the data about COVID-19 deaths could ‘be used against us’ by the Justice Department in the midst of its federal probe,” Faux News reports.
The investigation covers “four states regarding nursing home deaths, including New York, and thus the administration withheld the actual death count.”
“This is now criminal,” Montesano insists, not political. The representative of District-15 points out, “the governor wants to talk about how our attacks on him are political. They’re not political.” It’s time for impeachment.
“We’ve had an inkling all the while that they were covering stuff up, and now she admitted that she covered stuff up.” Worse yet, “she knew the Department of Justice has an active investigation going on of the nursing home problems.” The reason for that is “a lot of us in the legislature, especially in the minority,” requested the investigations.
