Chuck Schumer threatened a filibuster to block the confirmation of Neil Gorsuch while another democrat has moved over to Gorsuch’s side.
The war between Chuck Schumer and Mitch McConnell over the Supreme Court Nominee, Neil Gorsuch is set for Friday. McConnell has publicly stated that Gorsuch will be confirmed that day while Schumer threatened a filibuster to block the confirmation.
McConnell hit back with his own threat, changing the rules for Supreme Court nominees which wouldn’t allow for a filibuster. Neil Gorsuch has the support of all 52 Senate republicans and 2 of the democrats, Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Sen. Heidi Heitkamp (D-ND).
From WNP Insider:
Red state Democrat Sen. Joe Donnelly (D-IN) has just publicly announced that he will support Gorsuch’s nomination. This is another signal that the 49-year-old judge will be confirmed without a Democratic-led filibuster in the Senate. After meeting with Gorsuch and reviewing his record Sen. Joe Donnelly (D-IN) said,
“I have said consistently that part of my job is to carefully review, debate, and vote on judicial nominations, including nominees to the Supreme Court. It is my obligation as Senator to consider the qualifications of each nominee that comes to the Senate floor to determine if he or she can faithfully serve on our nation’s highest court. I take this responsibility very seriously. After meeting with Judge Gorsuch, conducting a thorough review of his record, and closely following his hearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee, I believe that he is a qualified jurist who will base his decisions on his understanding of the law and is well-respected among his peers.”
These politicians are wasting so much time playing politics. We elected them to attack the issues. I am very disgusted. They are trying to ensure that Trump fails to prove that only politicians are qualified to be President. It’s time for democrats to move out of the way so the President can work on what really matters… AMERICA!
