When a man got caught performing sexual acts on his toddler, he tried to worm his way out of the heinous crime by saying one of the most ridiculous alibis on record.
27-year-old Henry Vincent Bennett from West Virginia was arrested in February 2018 after his daughter gave hints to family members and to then child safety workers that she was being abused. There was an instance where the little girl made a phallic shape out of Play-Doh and said it was the father’s “butt.”
Cindy Lambert, a child advocacy worker, said that the child mentioned her father putting his “butt on her butt,” as reported by the Daily Mail.
Using clay as a prop, the 3-year-old girl acted out her father’s horrific assault.
However, instead of confessing to his heinous crimes, Bennett appeared before the judge and tried to justify his actions, placing all the blame on his own daughter.
Bennett claims that the two sexual encounters with her 3-year-old daughter, one with a sex toy and one with oral sex, occurred “accidentally.”
In fact, his most ridiculous reason was he allegedly mistook the 30-pound child for his nearly 200-pound wife on both occasions.
Bennett accused the child of sneaking into his bedroom and initiating oral sex on him, which led him to believe that his wife April Bennett was performing the sex act.
Fortunately, the court wasn’t buying Bennett’s disturbing excuses. After the closing arguments, the jurors deliberated for less than half an hour before announcing that they had reached a verdict. Bennett was found guilty on 2 charges of first-degree sexual assault, 2 charges of sexual abuse by a parent, and 2 charges of incest.
With this, the judge sentenced Henry Vincent Bennett to 25 to 100 years on each of two counts of first-degree sexual assault. He was also sentenced to consecutive sentencing totaling 30 to 70 years on two incest charges. He is eligible for parole after serving 50 years of the sentence.
Disturbingly, Bennett will likely serve out his sentence while maintaining his innocence at the expense of the little girl he sadistically raped. However, as long as his sentence goes as planned, he’ll never be able to hurt another child again.
