The Senate race in Georgia appears to be shifting back in the GOP’s favor, according to a new poll that shows Herschel Walker as the favorite in the midterm election over the incumbent Democrat Senator.
Republican Herschel Walker has taken a three-point lead over incumbent Democrat Raphael Warnock in Georgia’s crucial U.S. Senate race, Fox News reported, citing a new poll from InsiderAdvantage/FOX 5 Atlanta.
Warnock lost four points in support, while Walker has picked up two points since the last poll, a swing of six points.
Walker now leads 47% to 44% in one of the key battlegrounds as Republicans seek to flip back a Georgia Senate seat as the midterm battle for the upper-chamber majority heats up in the race’s final two months.
Libertarian candidate Chase Oliver remains impactful, drawing 4% support, while 5% remain undecided, according to the poll.
Here’s what InsiderAdvantage Chairman Matt Towery said, according to Fox 5:
“Warnock is winning among younger voters and seniors but trails badly among those 40-64. Men support Walker at 60%, while women support Warnock at 55%. Walker is receiving 12% support from African American respondents.”
The polling numbers suggest Walker, a well-liked Georgia football legend, has picked up momentum heading into a final couple of months of the race.
This latest poll comes right as Walker launched his “Unite Georgia” statewide bus tour on September 7 and right after he celebrated the start of his alma mater University of Georgia’s football season, appearing on the field after the first game, as well as on a bus alongside his Heisman Trophy, the prestigious award he won in college.

The poll also comes after Warnock, a proponent of wiping out student loans, publicly celebrated President Joe Biden’s announcement that the president will do just that to the tune of up to $10,000 to $20,000 for millions of Americans. Warnock, alongside Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), led the push for Biden to act on student debt.
In a tweet on Friday, Walker continued to tie Warnock to President Joe Biden, who remains woefully unpopular.
“Warnock and Biden have brought us nothing but division and chaos,” When I get to Washington, that will change.”
Great to have BOLD leaders like @NikkiHaley, @ChrisCarr_Ga, and @BruceThompsonGA with @TeamHerschel today for our Unity Bus Tour!
