On Monday morning, two people were killed and another two seriously injured in a string of shootings that appear to have targeted homeless people in a suburb of Vancouver, Canada.
Emergency alerts were issued shortly after 6:00 a.m. local time after an unidentified gunman began shooting in multiple places in downtown Langley, about 30 miles southeast of Vancouver, local media reported.
The first shooting occurred at midnight at the casino, with more shootings at 3 am, 5 am and 5.45 am – including at a residential complex that provides support for people who are transitioning out of homelessness. The other shooting scenes were a bus stop and a highway, police said.
Evidence of the all-night rampage was scattered around Langley, including an overturned bicycle spilling personal possessions onto a street and a shopping trolley with someone’s belongings.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Langley confirmed that officers responded to shooting scenes in multiple locations around the city of Langley and nearby Langley Township beginning just after 6 a.m.
They described the gunman as a white male with dark hair wearing Carhart coveralls and a blue and green camouflage T-shirt with a red logo on the sleeve. He was believed to be traveling in a white car.
Police said he acted alone.
‘In the early morning hours of July 25, 2022, the Langley RCMP responded to multiple report shots fired with several victims and several different scenes throughout the City of Langley and one scene in the Township of Langley. Out of an abundance of caution, an Emergency Alert was issued until investigators can confirm that the suspect was acting alone,’ according to a Langley police.
UPDATE: Officers fatally shot the gunman, according to Ghalib Bhayani, superintendent of the mounted police.
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police said an emergency response team confronted the suspect not far from a highway bypass where a man was found with a gunshot to his leg. That’s when officers fatally shot the gunman.
Police later identified the shooter as Jordan Daniel Goggin. They are investigating the motive.
