There have been some awkward moments on The Price Is Right, like the time a contestant was brought to the ground by the big wheel, or when a woman was told to “come on down” while she was in the bathroom, or when a contestant embarrassingly tried to shake host Drew Carey‘s hand at the end of a show only to be continually ignored.
However, our featured story for today, showcasing what happened in a recent episode is so cringe-worthy, so heartbreaking, so soul-crushing that after it went down, Drew said, “That’s gonna be on YouTube, on the Internet forever.”
The contestant, Jennifer, made it to the showcase on The Price Is Right only to have the taste of sweet victory taken away from her.
Her opponent was Robert whose final bid came in $6,083 under the actual rental price and it appeared that Jennifer was well on her way to not only winning but also picking up a new video camera, a home theater, and a Nissan Versa.
With a guess of $23,294 host Drew Carey drawled out the actual retail price which was 23 thousand…two hundred…ninety…one dollars ($23,291), that’s right Jennifer was three dollars over and lost.
This is a monumental moment for any contestant to make it onto The Price Is Right, but it turns out Jennifer was not as close as she thought. We can’t help but imagine how crushing that would feel, especially after such a nerve-wracking experience.
It’s safe to say that if you win on The Price Is Right, you better count your blessings and avoid checking an online calculator.
