A brave teacher resigns in protest of critical race theory implementation in schools, standing up against politicized curriculum and advocating for unbiased education.
Laura Morris, a dedicated fifth-grade teacher at Lucketts Elementary School in Leesburg, Virginia, took a bold stand against the indoctrination of critical race theory in our schools. In a courageous act, Morris resigned from her position during a Loudoun County School Board meeting, refusing to subject her students to the highly-politicized curriculum that she believes is detrimental to our children’s education.
Morris was unyielding in her conviction that the Loudoun County School Board’s insistence on implementing so-called “equity trainings” would only serve to further divide students and distort their understanding of American society. With half of her teaching career spent at Lucketts Elementary School, Morris passionately denounced the school board’s agenda, which she felt was being forced upon our nation’s most vulnerable population – our children.
In her heartfelt statement, Morris declared, “I quit being a cog in a machine that tells me to push highly-politicized agendas on our most vulnerable constituents – the children.” She chose to relinquish her position in the well-funded and affluent district, as she could not reconcile her beliefs with the divisive lesson plans being promoted.
Morris, a believer in Christ, found herself wrestling with the decision to return to a school system that embraces political ideologies contrary to her faith. She lamented the “lack of consideration for the growing population of concerned citizens in this division,” whose voices seemed to go unheard during the school board meetings.
Furthermore, Morris expressed her frustration with the superintendent’s intrusion into her personal life, citing emails that reminded her that dissenting opinions were not to be voiced, even in her private conversations. This infringement on her personal liberties left her disillusioned with the school district’s leadership.
Instead of succumbing to the controversial policies pushed by the school board, Morris bravely chose to walk away from her job. In her powerful resignation, she stated, “Not only that, but within the last year, I was told in our so-called equity trainings that white, Christian, able-bodied females currently have the power in our schools and, quote, ‘this has to change.’ Clearly, you have made your point. You no longer value me or many other teachers you have employed in this county.”
Morris concluded her impassioned resignation by encouraging parents and staff to explore private school options, effectively taking a stand against the politicization of our children’s education. Her actions serve as a reminder that it is crucial for parents, educators, and concerned citizens to be vigilant and challenge the agendas being forced upon our children in public schools.
Let Laura Morris’s story be an inspiration to those who value the preservation of our nation’s foundational principles and the importance of a fair and balanced education for future generations.
