She Disguised Herself As Her Daughter To Make A Point To The Whole School..

A mother from San Elizario, Texas, believes she was just trying to make kids safer by posing as her 13-year-old daughter for an entire school day.

In fact, not one teacher noticed 30-year-old Casey Garcia until the last period of the day on June 1, but instead of praise for her “social experiment,” on Friday she was charged with criminal trespassing and tampering with government records.

Garcia made a video explaining why she decided to do this, and in the video, she also explained what her day at middle school was like. Garcia dyed her hair and tanned her skin to resemble her daughter. She’s 4 feet, 11 inches tall, and weighs 105 pounds, according to jail records.

“OK, I’ll talk to you guys once I’m inside,” Garcia said in the video, wearing her daughter’s yellow hoodie and black face mask. “Do I look like a seventh grader? No? Cool. Awesome.”

Garcia claims, “I was nervous the entire time.” She didn’t know if or when she would get caught, but she was surprised at how easily she made it through the majority of the school day.

When she got to school, she was asked for her ID number and her name. She gave them her daughter Julie’s ID number and name. Then she was asked if she signed in, and she said “yes.” After that, she was allowed to enter the school where she even said “hi” to the principal and another school employee.

After she entered the school, she found her way to all of her daughter’s classes. She was wearing a face mask throughout the day which helped her hide her true identity, but she managed to eat lunch at the cafeteria without wearing a mask, and still, nobody noticed that she wasn’t the person she was pretending to be.

The video also shows the mom sitting through her daughter’s second-period math class. In gym class, her daughter’s teacher stopped her and asked who she was, to which she said that she was Julie — and he apparently believed her.

“I’ve been here all day, face-to-face with teachers,” Garcia said in the video while sitting down for lunch. And yet no one suspected a thing.

Garcia finally got caught during her daughter’s last-period class when the teacher asked “Julie” to stay after class and realized it wasn’t her.

“Well, I finally got caught,” Garcia explained to the camera as she walked down the hall. “I told them that I would go to the principal’s office, so I guess we are going to see what happens.”

More than 300,000 people watched Garcia’s video, and the Washington Post noted that social media posts the mom made about her videos went viral.

After Garcia’s visit with the principal on June 1, the San Elizario Independent School District reported the incident to the police.

On Friday, officers with the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office arrived at Garcia’s home — which she also captured on camera.
Officers cited an outstanding traffic warrant when they arrested the mom, but she’s since been charged with criminal trespassing and tampering with government records.

She was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility but was released later that day after posting the $7,908 bond.
