Weddings are incredibly special occasions. Not only for the betrothed couple but also for their loved ones, respective families, and friends. So it comes as no surprise that most couples prefer keeping the spotlight on themselves.
The same with a case from our featured story for today, a bride who uninvited her close friend and bridesmaid-to-be from her wedding after she looked “too good” in her dress.
Yes, you read that right. Alena Yildiz, a 21-year-old model from Germany took to her TikTok to reveal that she was uninvited from her close friend’s wedding for looking “too good”.
In a TikTok that has been viewed more than 10 million times since it was uploaded, 21-year-old model Alena wrote: “My close friend uninvited me to her wedding because she thought I looked too good in the dress SHE chose for me.”
She added: “Still took some fire pics in it tho… [sic]”
We’ve gotta say, she looks amazing! We can kind of see why the bride wouldn’t want her to look that beautiful on her special day. However, in that case, we’re confused as to why the bride would choose that dress for her!
Many people who saw the video couldn’t help but think the same and shower her with compliments about how great she looked. In fact, most people sided with Alena and thought the bride was being unreasonable or at least, super insecure.
Alena revealed that her close friend who is the bride (her name hasn’t been disclosed by the model for privacy reasons), picked out the bridesmaid dress herself for Alena and her other bridesmaids. Alena’s dress is a blue-sequinned strapless dress with nude-lace detailing.
In an interview with Insider, Alena revealed that the bridesmaids were made to pay for their own dresses even though the bride picked them out. The model’s dress was designed by Albina Dyla and cost 1200 euros or $1360.
She also shared that when she sent the bride a video of herself wearing the dress, she immediately received a call from the bride.
“She called me and told me about her insecurities with my dress; that it was too attention-grabbing. She was very angry about the whole situation and ended up uninviting me after the call. We got into a fight because it made no sense to me since she chose that dress herself.
Alena was further puzzled as none of the other bridesmaids who would also be wearing a similar dress were uninvited. The model is currently not on speaking terms with her friend and missed the wedding which took place last week.
“We talked about her wedding for years, and I was so happy for my friend to finally be with the love of her life and to celebrate with her,” she added.
Unfortunately, Alena’s TikTok made things worse between the two friends. After the clip went viral, her friend and she reportedly argued even more and the model is now unsure if the two will ever be able to work past their differences. She however has some words of advice for women.
“Another woman’s beauty doesn’t make your beauty fade, and I wish more people would understand that and be confident,” she said.
