From bad food to bad customer service.
This is the incident that happened in New Orleans where Liryca Neville Branch and his co-workers have dined at a restaurant called, Huck Finn’s Cafe in Decatur Street.
WDSU reported:
A customer at a French Quarter restaurant got more than she bargained for Thursday afternoon when a racial slur appeared on her receipt.
The incident happened shortly before 3 p.m. at Huck Finn’s Café on Decatur Street.
The woman said she was dining with co-workers at the restaurant. At the end of her meal, she said she found a racial slur notated on her paper receipt.
The waiter referred to her using the N-word, which was printed on the receipt, and followed with the printed words “100% dislike.”
From the receipt, it shows a $16 discount on the receipt. We are told the customer sent back a fish platter and salad, which costs $16 at the cafe.
The receipt was posted to social media, spreading quickly on Facebook and Twitter.
The manager would not do an on-camera interview with WDSU. He told WDSU the waiter involved had been fired.
This is absurd! Firing the racist employee is not just enough.
New York Daily News also reported:
No one was as upset as Branch, however. “This is unacceptable. I couldn’t sleep last night,” “You would think that we wouldn’t have to deal with this stuff right now. It just shows that racism is alive and well.”
Later on, the Huck Finn’s Cafe released a statement on their website:
Huck Finn’s Cafe is shocked and appalled at the actions of one of its employees, who was terminated immediately after management found out they violated company policy, Huck Finn’s Cafe is committed to treating everyone, employees and customers alike, with dignity and respect. The unfortunate actions of this one employee do not mirror the mission of Huck Finn’s Cafe’s firm non-discrimination policy, and we are extremely apologetic for any inconvenience this may have caused. We have been serving customers from around the world for more than 6 years, and our employees work their hardest to go above and beyond to ensure visitors have a pleasant and respectful experience at Huck Finn’s Cafe.”

One customer, Cooper Anderson said in a statement, “It’s actually very insulting. I’m not black but still, that’s an insulting word, We don’t use that word anymore. It’s a racist word, racist term, one of the worst you could ever say and putting it on paper at a public restaurant in New Orleans, that’s one of the worst things you can do.”
Liryca Neville Branch added her statement, “I’ve never had anything like this happen before to me, Trust me — this is not over. I refuse to let this die out.”
