Tara Reid caused concern by posting a number of black and white bikini photos on Instagram.

The American Pie star took to Instagram to share a series of photos snapped by her friend, Orange Is the New Black alum, Taryn Manning. She captioned the black and white pics, which show her posing in a bikini, “Nothing better than your friend taking hot artsy pics of you in Palm Springs aka @tarynmanning.”

While many people complimented the star, others criticized the actress for her thin appearance, with some writing in the comments that they are concerned for the 45-year-old’s health.

Many followers were quick to jump in the comments section, with one writing,

“let’s be real. There’s skinny and unhealthy. Someone needs to step and help her. She’s always been a pretty Girl but she doesn’t look well here.” Meanwhile, another fan commented, “Not hate just a concern.”

Reid quickly slammed the trolls, writing:

“Stop hating, start loving. No one needs to be body shaming. It’s not right, it’s not cool and it hurts people. Please don’t be one of those people, it does have an effect.” Her pal Taryn then jumped in, “I love you my super hero. If only they knew your heart and soul they would feel terrible deliberately trying to hurt you. Proud of you. I would do anything for your washboard abs BTW. Good news is, haters only mean you still got that thing!”

According to her post on her Instagram page, body-shaming is alive and well, with the actress clapping back at comments ripping into her physique in a recent bikini pic.

She countered the haters by sharing another pic from that same day to prove that she’s not “too skinny,” as several people commented on her original “artsy” image. The original picture was a pair of black-and-white shots of Reid clearly feeling herself in a fun patterned two-piece.

She went on to share her appreciation for all of the fans who did stand up to her, adding, “To everyone who wrote something nice and stuck up for me, I love you! And keep spreading that love, it is the only thing that will save this world.”

The unfortunate thing is that the haters appear to have gotten into her head enough that she not only felt the need to respond again, she felt the need to justify her original picture, push back against their totally inappropriate claims about her body and defend herself.

Among those she was grateful for were Ian Ziering, who commented, “You look great Tara!” and Taryn Manning, who took the photos and commented, “No one deserves this level of vitriol.”
