There’s One New Sleeping Trend That May Assure You NEVER Wake Up…

A dangerous TikTok trend promising a better night’s sleep and weight loss has users playing with fire, as experts warn of the potentially fatal consequences lurking beneath the surface.

The emerging TikTok trend, touted as a “lifesaver” for weight loss and improved sleep, is, in fact, a dangerous game of Russian roulette with your life. The trend involves taping your mouth shut at night, a hack that, while viral on the platform, could have fatal consequences, causing suffocation during sleep.

Countless TikTok influencers are endorsing this hazardous practice, insisting that it aids in faster sleep, better rest, and even weight loss. However, their claims lack any scientific backing. In reality, taping your mouth shut during sleep could potentially lead to premature death, particularly if you’re unable to breathe through your nose.

Supporters of this dangerous trend argue that it boosts airflow and relaxation, and even curbs snoring, making it a bed partner’s dream come true. But Dr. Raj Dasgupta, a renowned sleep specialist from the University of Southern California, warns that this practice could obstruct breathing and result in suffocation.

The risk amplifies for individuals with obstructive sleep apnea or those reliant on a CPAP machine for breathing. Dr. Dasgupta explains, “if you have obstructive sleep apnea, yes, this can be very dangerous. This condition already causes breathing interruptions during sleep and reduces oxygen supply to the brain, leading to severe fatigue, an increased risk of heart disease, and other life-threatening conditions.

Despite warnings from medical professionals, some TikTok users are audaciously advertising mouth-taping as a secret to longevity and a fountain of youth. With such enticing promises, it’s no wonder this perilous trend has taken America by storm, captivating millions desirous of extending their lives and halting the aging process.

Dr. Dasgupta, as quoted by the DailyMail, cautions against this practice. He advises consulting with healthcare providers before attempting it, stating, “There is limited evidence on the benefits of mouth taping, and I would be very careful.”

Contrary to the alleged surge in energy levels reported by TikTok users practicing mouth taping, the reality is that they are setting themselves up for a potential suffocation risk if their noses become obstructed during sleep.

Dr. Megan Acho, a sleep specialist from the University of Michigan Health, also strongly advises against this trend. She emphasizes, “Importantly, if you have nasal congestion or a deviated nasal septum, you could potentially limit airflow if you tape your mouth.” Hence, she strongly discourages mouth taping, particularly in individuals with known nasal diseases and children.

While it may promise a night of sound sleep and a path to longevity, it could very well lead you into a lethal slumber from which you might never awake.
