In an intriguing twist to the narrative, Platkin disclosed that the New Jersey State Committee called out Devine’s submission of the fraudulent ballots, raising eyebrows over the uniformity in the signatures and the unsettling fact that one of the alleged voters had already passed away.
Following a judicial review, McCormick has swiftly stripped off the primary ballot. Devine now faces charges of third-degree offenses related to tampering with nomination certificates and public records, and fourth-degree offenses for fabricating or tampering with records, as per reports by the Daily Caller.
Thomas Eicher, the Executive Director of the New Jersey Office of Public Integrity and Accountability, was clear in his stance. Devine, however, seems unphased by the allegations. Taking to Twitter, he retorted, “My political adversaries pounced on a mistake because they want to intimidate anyone with the temerity to challenge this incredibly corrupt system & I have been a pain in the ass to powerful people. I hope this does not stop people from participating in American democracy.”
The case against Devine adds to the growing list of Democrats embroiled in scandalous behavior. The strategist previously held the position of a political director for the New Jersey Democratic State Committee from 1992–1993 and proudly labels himself as a “masterful Democratic Party campaign strategist.”
In a separate incident, Shakir Khan, a Democratic city council member from California, was arrested on charges of alleged election fraud. This case gained attention after Khan faced additional criminal charges, eventually leading to his resignation, as reported by CBS Sacramento.
Khan’s downfall further underlines the disarray within the Democratic ranks. After his arrest, Khan claimed that he was forced to resign from his post. However, the allegations of vote fraud are reportedly linked to the 2020 election, shedding light on yet another incident of potential misconduct within the party.
Lodi Mayor Mikey Hothi said in a statement at the time, “We became aware of Shakir Khan’s arrest this morning and I had the opportunity to speak with him here at the county jail and asked for his resignation, effective immediately. He agreed to resign. The city is fully cooperating with the investigation. I want to thank the sheriff’s office and everybody involved, ensuring a fair and thorough process.”
Despite Khan’s attorney’s claims that his client was forced into resignation under duress and without legal representation, the sheriff’s office maintains that there is substantial evidence to suggest Khan has breached the public trust. The charges against him range from false voter registration to fraudulent casting of votes, highlighting the need for greater accountability within the Democratic Party.
This is not Khan’s first encounter with the law. In 2021, he was arraigned on charges related to illegal gambling, money laundering, tax evasion, and unemployment claim fraud. The San Joaquin County Registrar’s Office, cooperating fully with the sheriff’s office, is now re-evaluating its systems to prevent voter fraud in the future.
San Joaquin County Sheriff Patrick Withrow stated that the charges against Khan resulted from an investigation initiated in 2019, following previous allegations against him. Withrow went on to explain that public concerns about the integrity of the election process prompted law enforcement to delve deeper into the matter.
