President Biden delivered remarks on the Senate passage of the $1.2 trillion “infrastructure” bill on Tuesday and when Biden was asked by one reporter about governors about banning mask mandates in schools. He said that his administration is examining whether he can order universal masking in public schools.
Classes started in some Florida school districts Tuesday, and more schools are expected to open throughout the week. However, several school districts will require masks for students anyway, and one of the administrations has threatened to withhold the salaries of school administrators who implement those policies against his orders.
The White House is looking for ways to support school board members and superintendents who break state law to follow the federal guidance, but Biden on Tuesday downplayed his options, in a follow-up question, when the reporter asked “Do you have presidential powers to intervene in states like Texas and Florida where they are banning mask mandates?”
Biden the tyrant said, “I don’t believe that I do thus far, We’re checking that, but federal workforce I can.”
Biden’s remarks came after he addressed the issue of states that have banned public schools districts from imposing mask mandates for the upcoming school year. The president called such efforts “disingenuous,” arguing governors should allow districts to follow Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines.
Biden said, “If a principal in my school says everyone should wear a mask, or the school board votes for it, that governor will nullify that, that governor has the authority to say you can’t do that. I find that totally counter-intuitive and quite frankly, disingenuous.”
