A man known only as Ravi kidnapped a two year old girl and raped her for five hours until she died has been convicted and scheduled to be executed. Heinous crimes like this needs a new type of punishment before these terrible things will be a thing of the past. I have always believed that in the cases of extremely brutal killings, the criminal should be put to death the same way they took the victim’s life. A shot that puts you to sleep until you quit breathing seems like an easy way out. What if they have to face the same horror that their victims endured. Might make them think before they commit the crime.
A man who raped and murdered a two-year-old girl has been sentenced to death, a supreme court has ruled.
The man, known only as Ravi, kidnapped the toddler and assaulted her for five hours before she died.
The horrific offence happened in March 2012 in Jalna, Maharashtra, in India.
In a 2-1 majority judgement, the court ruled that this was a case where “trust has been betrayed and social values are impaired”.
The court heard the “convict had no control over his carnal desires (and) surpassed all natural, social and legal limits just to satiate his sexual hunger.”
The majority judgement said: “He ruthlessly finished a life which was yet to bloom.
“The appellant instead of showing fatherly love, affection and protection to the child against the evils of the society, rather made her the victim of lust,” two of the three justices said.
“The unnatural sex with a two-year-old toddler exhibits a dirty and perverted mind, showcasing a horrifying tale of brutality.
