For the vast majority of us, our local library was and still is a place where you could go and sit down with a good book, research your book report when you were in school, or engage in some fun community activity.

The local library used to be a place where you could go and not have to worry about any issue from the outside world. It used to be a safe place to be, back before liberals co-opted that word into meaning “place free from things that offend me”. Now, it might be a place where you wouldn’t think of going if your life depended on it.

In the liberal hellscape that is California, if you were to walk into a library in one of its most populated cities, you might see a scene more resembling a drug den than a place where you can check out a good book.

In San Francisco, the libraries have become a shooting gallery of sorts of the hordes of drug-addicted homeless that have taken over a once-great American city. This in turn, is driving away the population of the city that actually wants to use the library to find a book or do research for school.

As reported earlier in the week in The San Francisco Standard, the San Francisco Public Library has become what may be the liberal enclave’s largest open-air drug market. Since city officials made a half-hearted attempt to crack down on drug activity closer to the downtown area, it seems that the homeless drug addicts of the city have begun migrating toward the public library.

According to the report, not long after the sun goes down drug dealers, addicts, and other assorted homeless begin congregating around the San Francisco Public Library. Many of them also tend to camp there overnight, going into the library during regular operating hours and effectively squatting until they are forced to leave.

This isn’t just one or two errant homeless people, there are often dozens of homeless people in the library at one time going into the library, doing drugs in the bathrooms and leaving needles and various paraphernalia for the librarians and staff to clean up.

The librarians of this once-great city are beginning to revolt, picketing for the city to place security officers inside and around the building.

Given that small children are often the ones that frequent libraries the most, it is most disturbing that the report also revealed that there have been several incidents of mentally disturbed drug addicts threatening children as young as preschool age with weapons.

The library is supposed to be a good place to go. From the time I was young, my parents would tell me that if you are ever lost to find a library. If you need to be picked up from somewhere, walk to the library and call us.

I cannot imagine being a parent in the city of San Francisco and having a child that needed to be picked up.

“What’s that Billy, you need a ride home? Ok, where are you at? THE LIBRARY? Get away from there as fast as you can!”

It’s the reality that liberals have put us in people. We can’t let what is happening in California spread to the other forty-nine.
