At a rally in Georgia, Donald Trump said U.S. oil and gas companies are making a “fortune” and dismissed criticism over higher gas prices, according to Dave DeCamp at Antiwar.com and a clip posted on X by user Acyn on October 25, 2026.

“We’re making a freaking fortune”

“While oil prices are temporarily high and will be falling dramatically in a short period of time … the United States oil and gas business is making hundreds of billions of dollars,” Trump told supporters, per Antiwar.com.

In the clip shared by Acyn, Trump is heard saying: “We’re making money like we’ve never made before. They’ll say: President Trump is bragging about all the money they’re making while people are suffering at the pump. I don’t give a damn. We’re making a freaking fortune.”

Antiwar.com also quoted Trump as saying, “Our country is making hundreds of billions of dollars because of what’s happening in the Middle East because they’re coming to Texas, and they’re coming to Oklahoma, and they’re coming to Louisiana, and they’re taking that oil. They’re making hundreds of billions of dollars; our country is, and on top of it we have Venezuela, and we have Greenland.”

Trump added that aides advised him not to make the point because “people are paying a little higher,” but continued: “I don’t give a damn, I’m gonna say it: we’re making a freakin fortune. Our country is getting stronger and stronger all the time,” according to Antiwar.com.

Antiwar.com’s framing: Iran tensions and Hormuz disruptions

Antiwar.com linked the boast to shipping disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz, which the outlet characterized as being caused by “his war with Iran.” That framing is Antiwar.com’s; the outlet reported the remarks were made on Saturday and presented them in the context of Middle East tensions.

Election stakes and talk of strikes, per the outlet

Antiwar.com reported that higher energy costs are expected to hurt Republicans in the November 3 midterm elections and said Trump has spoken openly about possibly resuming a bombing campaign against Iran before or after the vote.

Iranian warnings reported

According to Antiwar.com, Iranian officials said they are prepared for another round of U.S.-Israeli strikes and warned that any retaliation would be heavier and target locations in the region they previously spared.
