Gas Station Owner Draws the Line, Posts Startling Sign Targeting Low-Income People!

An East Texas business owner made a buzz online after what he did to his less fortunate customers.

Frank Hemani is the owner of the Star Mart gas station in Emory, Texas, about an hour and a half east of Dallas.  After seeing things they just could not ignore or tolerate anymore, he decided to offer a bottle of water and a sandwich to those who needed it, after seeing a video where someone else did something similar.

A sign in his convenience store reads: “If you don’t have money or a job, you can have a sandwich and bottle of water for free.”

“If they are hungry enough, I will feed them. If they have children, or a child, I’ll definitely give them something to eat,” Hemani commented.

It might not be much, but it is the least anyone could do to help, according to Hemani. He offers ham-and-cheese sandwiches and occasionally breakfast tacos.

“It’s just a couple of bucks, but somebody will not go to sleep hungry,” Hemani said. “If you don’t have money or a job, you can have a sandwich and a bottle of water for free.”

Hemani began offering free food and water after seeing a video in which a similar act of kindness was performed.

“It’s really nice to help the community out because, there’s sometimes that maybe I went hungry,” Hemani commented. “I don’t think the kids in this country or anywhere else in the world has to wait for Christmas to get good stuff and I think they should get it whenever they deserve.”

Currently, the store gives away five or six sandwiches each week. Hemani hopes the giveaways will inspire others.

“I can do more positive stories out there. Because of me, if more and more people start doing it, I think it’ll be one good thing for the whole world,” Hemani concluded.

Hemani added that he’s planning to continue his gesture of kindness at his other stores.

Hemani also said he will extend the practice to his other stores. Store employee Andrea Wissman added to KLTV, “We all go through hard times from time to time, so it’s nice to have something good.”

We second that emotion. Maybe a small gesture in rural Texas can turn into a much bigger thing.
