One Colorado mother was shocked to know that the Oreos snack she prepared for her 4-year-old daughter was returned uneaten with a letter from her daughter’s teacher telling her that she needs to prepare healthier lunches next time.

Natalee Pearson sent her daughter to Children’s Academy in Aurora. Pearson said that there was one time that they were out of stock of nutritional food for lunch that’s why she decided to give her daughter a pack of Oreos as a temporary snack at school. But she didn’t expect that this would make her receive a letter that would insult her as a parent.

The teacher sent the cookies home with Natalee, along with a note:

“Dear Parents, it is very important that all students have a nutritious lunch. This is a public school setting and all children are required to have a fruit, a vegetable and a heavy snack from home, along with a milk. If they have potatoes, the child will also need bread to go along with it. Lunchables, chips, fruit snacks, and peanut butter are not considered to be a healthy snack. This is a very important part of our program and we need everyone’s participation.”

Leeza and her family call Aurora, Colorado, their home. In this city, people usually treat each other well with no cause for concern because it is a place of acceptance and respect.

That’s exactly why Leeza became so distraught and confused by the way she and her daughter were treated by staff at the Aurora’s Children’s Academy. The academy took things a little too far this time around and did something no parent would have the capacity to accept.

“We noticed last minute that we ran out of fruit or we would have put that in there instead,” the 22-year-old mom told TODAY.com. “So we threw some Oreos in there.”

Pearson said she is baffled by how the school handled the situation.

“I think it is definitely over the top, especially because they told her she can’t eat what is in her lunch,” Pearson told ABC News. “They should have at least allowed them to eat her food and contacted me to explain the policy and tell me not to pack them again.”

After the story spread, Pearson was surprised to see the fury it generated on social media.

Critics called the letter “ridiculous” and Pearson said she’s especially annoyed because the school recently asked parents to provide candy for a class party.

“I just got a bunch of outrage from friends I hadn’t heard from in years,” she said.

Leeza naturally only wanted the best for young Natalee. The environment she was growing up in was highly competitive, so it only felt right to put her in the Children’s Academy so young. It was also like a dream come true.

Unfortunately, things would turn into a nightmare for Leeza soon enough. One particular morning filled with stress, Leeza took her daughter’s lunch pail and did something the school deemed unthinkable. Stress can lead to people doing a lot of questionable things.

The teacher is at fault as is the School. They have ZERO right to tell Parents what foods to feed their children. To make a child go hungry when they have food in their possession is ABUSE. The mother should turn them into Child Protective Services. What they did was CRUEL and ABUSIVE. The Mother could and should sue the teacher and anyone else at the School who approved the Teacher’s actions. Yes Children should eat healthy foods but the School is not the one who makes the child’s lunch and is not in the Home so they have no idea what things the parents are going through.
