A woman quickly realized she was being catfished by one of her Bumble matches after noticing this small detail. She then decided to use her detective skills after she spotted some strange behavior from her Bumble match.

Jocelyn, from Canada, shared her experience with TikTok in the hope of educating others. Jocelyn, who goes by the username @jjustjocelyn, had been looking for love on the dating app Bumble – a service that requires the woman to make the first move in order to avoid unsolicited advances from their matches.

Jocelyn matched with a handsome guy called Myles on Bumble, with the pair exchanged a few messages. Careful not to dive in too quickly, she explained that she didn’t give away much information about herself, but she thought he was ‘cute’ and they swapped numbers.

However, the potential romance came crashing down around her when she spotted that he was wearing an Apple Watch in his photos.

While it’s not impossible to own an Android and wear an Apple Watch, pairing the two devices is not recommended because of the number of issues that will crop up with the two different operating systems. Plus, an Apple Watch needs to be connected to an iPhone during the initial setup.

Jocelyn, who has an iPhone, noticed that when this man reached out to her, his texts were “green,” meaning he had an android phone.

“So this is the guy that I matched with,” she said, including a photo of him in the video. “What is he wearing? An Apple watch.”

As noted by Apple, in order to use an Apple watch, “you need an iPhone 6s or later.” However, Jocelyn emphasized that his green texts were proof that he didn’t have an iPhone.

She then did an image search on Google of some of the man’s photos from the dating app.

“And what do we have here, an Instagram model from New York,” Jocelyn explained, showing an Instagram account with the name Ron. The account had posted one of the pictures from the profile Jocelyn matched with.

“Thankfully I hardly spoke to this guy and invested zero percent of my time,” she added.

Jocelyn said:

“I don’t really give him too much information about myself. I’ve definitely chatted with people too long on the app in the past, so I’m like, I’m not doing that this time. He says we should get dinner sometime, and I’m like, ‘Great,’ because I don’t want to talk in the app. I want to meet in person and see if I even like him. I say yes to having dinner. He says maybe sometime this week. I say sure, sounds good to me, and I give him my number and say text me when and where. He texts me pretty quickly being like, ‘Hey, it’s so-and-so.’”

When filming this clip, she was also yet to have told the man that she knew he was catfishing her and asked her viewers if she should.

The video has over 686,000 views, so far, with TikTok users in the comments applauding Jocelyn for noticing the Apple watch in the photos.

Fortunately, this Canadian woman figured out she was being catfished and was able to stop things before she was harmed.

Here’s what folks online have been saying:

Praising Jocelyn for her eagle-eyed detective skills, one user said: “That is the most impressive detective work I’ve seen yet!! Love your work.”

Another thanked her for raising awareness of the issue, writing: “Thanks for this story. I just got Bumble so I will be more attentive!”

Others pointed out that people can turn off their iMessages, however, Jocelyn explained that that wasn’t actually the first thing that tipped her off.

In another video, she explained that she had a few suspicions when they swapped numbers to organise a date and he didn’t even mention it.

She said: “When he didn’t, I was, like, ‘that’s weird, that’s very weird’. That and the Android thing, so then I looked into it.”
