There has been a lot of fake news and misinformation about the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the focus of this misinformation is to add more fuel to the fire, intensifying the ongoing conflicts between sides.
Right now, we no longer know what and who to believe, is it Russia, Ukraine, the US, or Western media? Everyone seems to have a story to tell just to get more attention from the world stage. It is difficult to unwind what is true and what is not.
Just like their bed story about the “Ghost of Kyiv,” a lone warrior in the aerial defense of Ukraine’s embattled capital city in the early weeks of the Russian invasion.
According to multiple reports that the “Ghost of Kyiv” deftly maneuvered his 30-year-old, twin-engine MiG-29, and the Ghost jealously guarded the sky over Kyiv. Fighting against the odds with antiquated weaponry, he shot down 40 Russian warplanes before finally succumbing to enemy fire three weeks into the war.
BUT they just got one problem. The Ghost of Kyiv legend isn’t true. Even the Ukrainian air force, which once sort of embraced the tale, admitted so after The Times’ baseless story on the Ghost’s demise went viral on Saturday.
Sadly, according to Times, The Ghost of Kyiv’s real name is Stepan Tarabalka, died in the cockpit of his trusty MiG on March 14. Daily Caller reported:
The alleged pilot has been identified by local reports as Major Stepan Tarabalka and was killed when his MiG-29 was shot down during combat on March 13, according to a Friday report from The London Times.
The London Times also reported that the publication “confirmed the identity of the fighter pilot and his death.” Tarabalka allegedly is credited with 40 kills in the air.
If you think everything you are seeing in Western media is all about facts and not just some made-up bedtime stories, then you should see this as a prime example of how Western media has polluted the airwaves with propaganda and not facts.
