This Retail Chain Had To Close After These Photos Got Leaked…

A Twitter post has gone viral and led to the closing of the H&M store located in the Oculus at the World Trade Center. An employee shared the report on social media after she felt store officials didn’t take her notification seriously enough. The store just roped off a section of racks instead of closing the store.

So she did what any employee in 2022 would do. She went to social media – then go viral.

The employee who posted a picture of a rack full of white-colored hoodies crawling with bugs goes by the name Madesonee on Twitter.

“I work at the H&M in the Oculus at World Trade and today a customer discovered lice on a rack of hoodies. They’re not closing the store nor are they notifying employees of the problem. The section was just blocked off,” Madesonee said in a Twitter post.

Madesonee said that the problem had not even been notified to the other store employees. In response to the negligible amount of concern, she decided to post about the incident on Twitter.

The post immediately picked up clout and went viral. Multiple people expressed disgust at the situation, and Madesonne herself exclaimed that she had been working for H&M for the past five years and hadn’t come across a situation like it before. She believed the lice had been transmitted from the warehouse as the store receives new apparel every day.

The company later closed the location after her tweet went viral, and released the following statement: “Out of an abundance of caution we have closed the H&M store at Westfield World Trade Center in order to investigate fully.”

As for the whistleblower, it was her last day working for H&M as she had already resigned. “I’m resigning because I hate it here,” she wrote. She apologized to her store manager for the sudden widespread negative attention brought about by her tweet but said her co-workers, on the other hand, were thankful.

Users take to Twitter to react to the bug infestation at The Oculus’ H&M outlet:

Most of the responses from users were supportive of Madesonne, however, people slowly started debating the insect’s type. Some users stated that the creepy crawlies were stink bugs that are harmless to humans. Some even went far enough to suspect the entire incident to be a false setup by Madesonne to get attention.

A user on Twitter was quick to point out that the insects looked like bedbugs, a much more dangerous parasite than lice.

Madesonee has since muted the Twitter post after expressing gratitude to her supporters.
