This might be the most embarrassing photo of the day, and many people said it was staged.

Well, I don’t exactly know the protocols for commissioning a new nuclear submarine, but one thing is for sure kneeling isn’t what one is supposed to do.

Perhaps the protocols for commissioning an attack submarine are slightly different than what’s done for a surface ship, and maybe they’re even a bit vague given how new nuclear subs are.

All of the sailors also stood during the photo.

It is unclear why Biden keeps taking a knee during formal photos.

The president took a knee during a photo with the Seattle Storms team as he welcomed them to the White House to celebrate their WNBA champion

Well, guess what. While all of the sailors stood during the photo, Biden can be seen kneeling awkwardly during formal photos.

Yes, that was the same ceremony where he accidentally said that Jill had been Obama’s VP, saying:

“I’m incredibly pleased of the work she’s doing as First Lady with the Joining Forces effort she co-founded with Michelle Obama as vice president and now leads.”

With Biden out from his cave, at every event he goes to there will always be embarrassing moments. While that gaffe was the main story to come out of the ceremony at first, a second one emerged shortly afterward. That’s the weird photo of Biden taking a knee, as was shared on Twitter:

Breitbart News further reports other instances of Biden taking a knee:

The president took a knee during a photo with the Seattle Storms team as he welcomed them to the White House to celebrate their WNBA championship.

[…]In July, Biden also took a knee while taking a photo with the Los Angeles Dodgers at the White House after celebrating their World Series victory.[…]Biden also took a knee during a photo with the family of a 94-year-old Korean War veteran after awarding him the Medal of Honor in May. Why is Biden taking a knee in all these pictures, particularly when no one else is doing so?

More details of this weird kneeling Biden from Trending Politics report:

On one hand, it could be because he’s six feet tall and thinks he needs to kneel so that others can be seen in the photo. if that’s the case, his unprompted kneeling is just polite, if a bit weird.

But, taking a knee now carries with it some political significance thanks to failed NFL athlete Colin Kapernick. He took a knee to protest the American flag and many others followed suit, turning the gesture into a act with serious, far-left political overtones.

Biden has even implicitly acknowledged those in the past. Sharing yet another photo of him kneeling around the time of a September 2020 protest in Deleware, Biden said:

We are a nation in pain right now, but we must not allow this pain to destroy us.

As President, I will help lead this conversation — and more importantly, I will listen, just as I did today visiting the site of last night’s protests in Wilmington.

Perhaps Biden’s knee in front of the USS Deleware and her crew wasn’t symbolic. But, because it was unexplained and because of the connotations that come with kneeling now, many thought it was, as many pointed out on Twitter in tweets like this one:
