A twisted child rapist complained he wouldn’t be able to go shopping in prison after he was jailed for 24 years for raping an 11-year-old girl.

Robert Cronin, 33, who was arrested and charged in January, bizarrely tried to claim the girl got pregnant after wearing a sock he used while performing a solo sex act.

The sick computer worker, of Niskayuna in upstate New York, US, was exposed when a call was made to a child abuse hotline in November last year, nine months after the rape.

His traumatised young victim, who has given birth to the baby, told court how the twisted pervert had destroyed her life forever, the News 5 reported.

Cronin, from Niskayuna was jailed for 24 years after he admitted raping a child under the age of 13 at a court case in August.

He was also was given a further jail term of up to three years for lying in court, which will run concurrently.

The court heard harrowing evidence from the young victim.

Prosecutor Michael Nobles blasted Cronin, saying: “An 11-year-old girl gave birth to a child because of his selfishness and he’s mad he can’t go to malls.

Cronin’s was arrested and charged in January this year.

The girl and her baby are safe and are being cared for by social services.
